John Campbell was the fifth Treasurer of the United States, serving under both Presidents Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren. He was in office from May 26, 1829 to July 20, 1839.
Richard Barnes Gooch was an editor of the "Collegian" at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville. Later he was the founder of the Southern Literary Messenger and the first publisher of Ruffin's Farmer's Register.
