Letter with great political and upcoming 1840 election content dated June 19, 1840.  "I was at the Presidents today" Stampless folded letter from Washington DC to Canton, Ohio. Green circular date stamp and signed manuscript free frank of B. Tappan, with ALS as US Senator.  Condition as pictured, some ink spots and toning. Benjamin Tappan (1773-1857) was a US senator from Ohio 1839-1845, a law partner of Edwin Stanton and a US army major in the War of 1812.
